Aisling Cliodhnadh O'Sullivan (born 16 March 1984), better known as Aisling Bea, is an Irish actor, writer and comedian. Bea was first able to make a name for herself in stand-up comedy in 2011 after playing small roles that she acted in Irish and British TV dramas beginning in 2009. In 2012, she started to appear regularly on sitcoms and sketch shows. In 2012, after she won an award at Edinburgh Comedy Awards (ECA), she started to appear frequently in panel shows. She has been a part of 8 Out of 10 Cats since the year 2016 and is an extremely popular contestant on the spinoff 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Her parents are Brian and Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead, her younger sister, was born. In 2012, she was the only woman in history to win the So You Think That You're Funny award. Bea was awarded the award to honor her father. Aisling Cliodhnadh was born March 16, 1984 in Kildare Town, County Kildare. Bea's father Brian died at the age of three. He was a horse veterinary. Bea wasn't told the specifics of his passing away until she turned 13. In 2017, Bea published an article in The Guardian about the suicide of her father's family and she adopted the stage name Bea in remembrance of him. Bea as well as her sister Sinead were taken care of by their maternal grandmother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher and jockey trainer, as well as a former professional jockey. They were obsessed with races and horses. Bea started out as a tourist guide at the Irish National Stud. But she realized her passion was for doing and not racing.
